Sant'Agata di Militello


                                                            A little part of Sant'Agata Militello

Sant'Agata Militello is a small town with a population of 15 000 inhabitants around, which is located between two cities: Messina and Palermo, two of the important cities in Sicily.

The town was found in 1573 by Galliego's family.

In Sant'Agata Militello, there is a castle called Galliego that it took this name for its foundation by that family (Galliego).

This castle was built in 1663 by the prince (Luigi Gallego) of Sant'Agata Militello who wanted a strategic view for the sea and also for the coast...

in front of it, you can see our town hall; at the beginning, it was a noble palace from XIX century...

Near Galliego's castle and Sant'Agata's town hall, there is the biggest square present in Sant'Agata Militello called "Vittorio Emanuele", in honor of the last italian king.

Recently, this square changed name in "Vincenzo Consolo" for one of ours local writers... 

Sant'Agata has lots of churches, but the most important is this one called "Chiesa Madre (Amatrice) ".

It dates back around XIX century and it was built in a neoclassical style, it has three aisles and it was built by the architect Leone Savoia.

Capo d'Orlando

Capo d'Orlando is a town near Sant'Agata di Militello (around 22 km far); 

it is known for its beautiful sea and beaches but also for its basket team: Orlandina Basket.

The team is recognized for having position in division A.
